This brutal murder in a front-ranking government hospital once again shows how unsafe are the women even at their place of work and the sordid state affairs in the healthcare system in West Bengal. AIDSO has also criticized the worthlessness of the hospital authorities in providing minimum safety to the working members and alleged that the authorities are trying to suppress truth by constituting a showy enquiry committee. AIDSO gave a call of strike in protest in all medical and dental colleges as well as paramedical and nursing colleges on 10 August last which was a total success. Doctors, nurses and health activists of almost all medical colleges in the country have joined the movement including participation in strike.
