Comrade Provash Ghosh, General Secretary, SUCI(C), has issued the statement on 29.4.25: We vehemently condemn the highly motivated decision of the NCERT to remove all references to the Mughals and Delhi Sultanate and add, instead, a chapter on dynasties that reflect so called Hindutva-ordained 'Indian ethos', references to the Maha Kumbh and flagship union government initiatives, and included two 'Jyotirlingas', the 'Char Dham yatra' and the 'Shakti Pithas' linked with Hindutva doctrine as "sacred geography" has been included in a clear move to saffronize education. Also, though Mughal emperor Babar has been branded as an invader, such has not been said about the British aggressors. History is history and above one's likes and dislikes. Can anybody delete the period of British rule from Indian History? History is enshrined in the chapters of social development as indelible truth and just cannot be erased at the whims of any ruler. Depriving students of being acquainted with historical facts and instead injecting in them distorted concocted versions of history is not only a step to brainwash them with slanted stuff but also to serve the crass communal Hindutva agenda of the ruling dispensation. We call upon all education-loving people of the country to rise in strong protest against such vile game of using academics as a tool to buttress heinous political agenda of the ruling bourgeoisie and its servile servitors and protect the interest of the students.
