SUCI(C) demands repeal of amendment to Waqf Act forthwith
Shri Provash Ghosh, General Secretary, SUCI(C), has issued the following statement on 10-04-2025: “We severely oppose the way the BJP-led Central government, under guise of removing corruption, has amended the Waqf Act, seemingly with a view to establishing control over and eventually acquiring through backdoor the properties of the Waqfs. Will the BJP government apply same policy regarding Hindu temple bodies and trustees including inclusion of non-Hindus in those bodies? It is a sinister design to stimulate further Hindu jingoism, aggravate religious division and terrorize minority population, foment communal tension to divert the public mind from burning problems of life in order to obstruct united democratic movements and class struggles of oppressed people against capitalist exploitation. We are of the firm opinion that the government should not interfere in the functioning of any autonomous religious organizations. We call upon the people of the country to come out to develop powerful united movement against this highly communal design in order to compel the BJP government to repeal the act forthwith.”
